In the early fall you want to divide your peony plants. This is a simple process too. Just dig up those that are starting to grow in too many directions. Find the roots for them and divide them. Then replace the two or three plants you now have instead of only one. You can also get rid of growth that isn’t healthy.
They are perennials which means they can bloom for more than one year at a time after you plant them. This means less work for you after the initial planting takes place. Peonies make lovely bouquets too. When you cut them from your garden, slant the stems so that they will last longer in the water you place them in.
